What is a Corn maze?
Corn mazes are giant puzzles that you walk through. We have taken a cornfield and cut paths into it to create a maze. There are loops and dead-ends to create a challenge and add to the fun!
How big is the maze?
This year’s maze is over 100,000 square feet. The paths in the maze total about 4,000 feet in length. The shortest way through, if you take all the correct turns, is about 1,600 feet.
How long does it take to get through the maze?
It all depends on how many wrong turns you take. The averageperson will finish the maze within
25-35 minutes. Some people have taken a lot longer and a few a bit quicker.
Will I get lost?
While most everyone does get a bit lost, we have designed the maze to be an interactive activity that makes a trip to the maze more than just a walk through some corn. If you do get lost, don’t panic!
We walk the maze every morning, so we’ll find you tomorrow.
How do you make the maze?
Very Carefully! The exact process of making the maze is a trade secret, but we can tell you that we plant the whole field in the spring and then cut out the design when the corn plants are 6”-12” tall.
What age is the maze most appropriate for?
One of the great things about the maze is that it is something that people of all ages can enjoy! As long as you are able to walk for 25-35 minutes or so, you can enjoy the maze.
Is the maze wheel-chair accessible?
We are semi-accessible. Conditions are dependent on ground moisture, when the ground is soft after a rain, it would be difficult to maneuver. We’d recommend the Hay Maze, which is on the black top for wheel chairs!
What should I wear to the Corn Maze?
Guests should wear old clothes and good walking shoes. Remember you will be walking through a corn field, and the ground will be dirty and uneven in places.
What do I need to bring with to the corn maze?
All you need is your admission, appropriate clothing, a readiness to get lost and have fun! But you may also want to bring water (walking through the maze could make you thirsty, especially on a hot day), bug spray, sun screen, flashlight (if you are coming for flashlight tours), a readiness to get lost and have fun!
Are there restrooms at the maze?
There are no restrooms in the maze! We have restrooms for your use if needed in the Garden Center.
Can I bring a pet?
Well behaved, leashed pets and service animals are permitted as long as you clean up after them, but we suggest leaving them at home in order for you and other guests to have the most enjoyable time possible.
Can I eat the corn?
You could, but it wouldn’t taste very good. The variety of corn that we grow is a cow grazing variety. Most of the energy goes into growing the plant tall, so the cobs are really bitter and mealy.
Are there refunds if guest leave due to rain?
No, but you can check at the Garden Center before you leave to see if they will give you a rain ticket or discount voucher, allowing you to return on a future date.
What else should I know about the corn maze?
No smoking or alcohol allowed on the property.
Please stay on the paths. Do not make your own shortcuts through the corn!
This will ruin the maze and spoil the fun for others.
Please do not throw the corn cobs! We don’t want anyone to get
hurt or for the maze to get ruined.
Can groups bring in their own food?
Yes, as long as it is kept in our picnic area, and everything is cleaned up afterwards. We do have concessions available during special events. (If you would like to host a special event/party, or bring a group to the maze please call 218-727-1177)
